Daniel Jeanrenaud , "The Rock'n'Roll Tsar" aka Daniel the Kingsnake , the son of a preacher man was born in Marseille (Tennessee). Now living in London, his reputation as a great rock'n'roller is growing. Over the last two years Daniel's regular appearances at The Marathon, opposite The Roundhouse have become almost legendary.
attracting distinguished fans like Robert Plant, Amy Winehouse and Oasis among others. While Paul Weller, The White Stripes, Jose Feliciano and Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads) have all jammed on a song or two with him.Chris Wilson from The Flamin' Groovies and Chas Smash from Madness regularly appeared with Daniel at The Marathon. Daniel played Ronnie Scotts and been a regular at the 12 Bar Club. When The Mean Fiddler closed its doors, he was among the chosen few invited to play its final night. In 2008, Daniel also supported My Bloody Valentine at The Roundhouse and The Fratellis at Somerset House.
During the eighties he moved from France To San Francisco and formed The Kingsnakes with some ex-members of The Flamin’ Groovies. Rolling Stone magazine picked them as one of the Best Bay Area Bands of the time and leading French magazine Rock ‘n’ Folk called them "The best rock ‘n’ roll band in the world".

Daniel’s favourite guitar, a 1951 Gibson ES 300 has been called Nadine ever since Chuck Berry borrowed it one night at Bill Graham’s Old Waldorf in downtown San Francisco. Sly Stone even wanted Daniel to join his band following a crazy late night jam session.
Returning to France in the early nineties, a new line-up of The Kingsnakes was formed with Manu Chao (who later went on to form Mano Negra). The last show for The Kingsnakes took place at The Olympia in Paris with Screaming Jay Hawkins. The Kingsnakes released four (five ?) albums for New Rose, EMI and Rock’n’Roll House and toured extensively in America, Canada, Europe and South America.
During his career, Daniel has played his version of rock’n’roll in juke joints, open-air festivals, underground stations, weddings, restaurants, art galleries, women’s jails, raves, under bridges, primary schools, hospitals and jet-set parties. The Rock n Roll Tsar, Daniel Jeanrenaud plays music everywhere and when he does, it R.O.C.K.S. ! Source

On y pu y voir Johnny Thunders (en forme), The Nomads, etc.
Merci de cette évocation.
