Excerpt of a Scott "Deluxe" Drake interview in "Life in a bungalo" :
The liner notes of the Suicide Kings "Teenage Disaster" (Sympathy for the Record Industry) album make you guys seem like seedy characters; any truth to those rumors? Do you still have your old manager’s watch? I’ve never been convicted of anything. Speaking of the Suicide Kings, I bought this CD (maybe mid-1997?) called "The Humpers : High and Mighty Suicide Kings" (on a label I hadn’t heard of before and haven’t since Sonic Records). I’m pretty sure it’s a bootleg, but the sound quality is very good (better the stuff on the SFTRI album). It’s got all the songs off of the Suicide Kings actual LP plus some bonus stuff. The liner notes say it should be considered the first Humpers album. Have you seen this particular release? Who is “Pinky Flamingo?
Scott : - That is a bootleg and should NOT be considered a Humpers’ album, it’s a Suicide Kings album. The two were very different bands. The liner notes on that thing are complete nonsense. Pinky Flamingo was the singer of the Suicide Kings; he hasn’t played in any bands recently.
Thanks to Francisco for music & scans !

Enjoy it !
I am familiar with this release. It's a less known fact that the Humpers' first ever album was released here in croatia (it was yugoslavia than) by a good friend of mine Zdenko Franjic on his Slusaj Najglasnije or Listen Loudest records. The album was "My Machine". He published it only on vinyl and cassette. After that he released their second release "War is Hell" and "High n Mighty" but without bonus tracks added here. It's a pre-Humpers band very close to Joneses ... GREAT STUFF!!!
Mr M Rambler
First I would love to thank you for some great music.I have been trying to get a CD or mp3 version of Garland Jeffrey's album 'Ghost Writer'.There was a limited edition Japanese CD version.Have you seen a CD or vinyl rip of this album anywhere?I have the album on vinyl. It deserves a proper reissue similar to his 'Escape Artist' album.I bought this CD.Jeffrey's other A&M Records releases have not been reissued in a CD/digital format.
Doug
Doug,
Garland Jeffreys has made a lot of good lps : for me the AM years are the best ... It seems that Ghost Writer , All American Boy & Girl , Rock'n'roll Adult & One Eyed Jack doesn't exist in cd ... maybe in Japan !
I have never seen vinyl rip of these albums ...
Some "best of" (a good Raven one)
exist .
I must check but I think I got them in vinyl except "Rock'n'roll adult" !
I don't know when (I left for a part of summer) but we 'll rip Ghost Writer !
Salut Mr Rambler, je t'envoie l'adresse de mon blog, enfin je me suis décidé.
Amitiés Rockandrollesques !!!

Doug
Thanks to Francisco....been waiting for this since he mentioned it in the Humpers post
Hey, I have this on vinyl from the original release. Think it might be worth a tank of gas?
Hey, I have the original on vinyl (and My Machine). Think they might be worth a tank of gas?
HISTORICAL REVISIONISM. Doesn't anyone else find it odd that a bass player who had little to nothing to do with the SOUND of the Suicide Kings is putting out product that connects his current "Mall Punk" band with a band who HATED punk rock? This is like caring about what Bill Wyman is doing now. What do the ORIGINAL Suicide Kings think of this?
??????????
The point is: Garland Jeffreys AND the Suicide Kings have covered "96 Tears".
First off, Pinky Flamingo is Rik Homan, my father. And second, The Suicide Kings did not hate punk rock at all. In fact, if they were to consider themselves anything it would be Punk. The Suicide Kings was for fun, nothing they thought would be huge. Of course they w anted people to like their music, but if they didnt then screw them. And I know this for fact. If there weren't so many problems within the band and it's members they may still be going today, but the band is happy for Bill to be able to move passed Jeff's death and continue playing music. None of them resent it at all.
A) Bill Wyman was in the Rolling Stones. B) Does Rik Homan know he is on a "Humpers" album? C) In the mid 80's the Suicide Kings were generally considered a glam band. There was no California punk scene at the time. D) When can we expect to see the "Camille Pinky Homan and the New Suicide Kings" album?
I don't understand a word about this discussion !!!
I don't care if the singer is the son of someone , the bassist maried with his sister ... I don't care if it's punk, rock or glam ...
I only know one thing : this album R.O.C.K.S & it rocks H.A.R.D !
It's enough for me !
No one has brought up the fact that the Suicide Kings were famous because the band was started by Mike Crescone, the former lead guitarist in Izzy Stradlin's band prior to Izzy forming Guns n Roses! That's why the Kings and Guns gigged together and that's why Izzy's solo stuff sounds like the Suicide Kings. This is why the Kings are so popular in Japan. The Japanese still love Izzy and anything he was involved in.
Hasta manana monsieur
The ONLY reason the Suicide Kings album did not fall between the cracks is because that is "Marty Stuart", famous Nashville guitarist on the album cover! It was recorded long before he played guitar for Johnny Cash.
