RépondreSupprimerYeah!!!!
RépondreSupprimerIt's the LORDS time. If there were artists that changed the course of RNR in the 80's, it was definitely Johnny Thunders, Hanoi Rocks and The Lords of the New Church. People were calling them "punk super group", "goth" or whatever, but they were just pure punk rock band. Stiv used all his catholic school upbringing frustrations and you have a feeling that he spits venom while singing. Brian James brought some early Damned and Dave Tregunna and Nicky Turner were, in my opinion, probably the best and at the same time most underrated rhythm section ever. I still don't know why I.R.S. people didn't include Lords' most succesful song "open your eyes" on this album.
Thanx for this and all your shares buddy.
yes I have seen the link ...

link one does not work. could you please have a look at it? thanks a lot. M.
RépondreSupprimerlink 1 is working ! Click on the title please !
RépondreSupprimerLargely because of their rock n roll pedigree there is a temptation to use the word ‘Great’ when talking about the Lords.
RépondreSupprimerThey weren’t. They were a very good band, particularly live, but never really delivered artistically/musically on their full potential. Their first album was their best work, but sold poorly on release due to it's strange ‘Oil painting’ sleeve which didn‘t really give a clue to the music inside. It was eventually changed to the dagger emblem that is now synonymous with the band.
Thanks !
